Firefighters rescued two dogs from a burning mobile home outside Gastonia Saturday afternoon.
The Crowders Mountain and Union Road volunteer fire departments responded to a fire at 2010 Angler Way off Crowders Creek Road at 2:29 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters arriving saw smoke billowing from the side of the home as flames tore through the bedroom.
Residents were not inside the home when the firefighters arrived, but volunteers from both departments entered the structure and rescued two dogs, according to a release from Crowders Mountain Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
Firefighters had the blaze under control in about seven minutes.
The single-wide mobile home sustained almost $10,000 in damage. A charred headboard and mattress burned to the springs were visible in the bedroom.
The fire’s cause is being examined by the Gaston County Fire Investigations Task Force.
