Firefighters from Crowder’s Mountain Volunteer Fire & Rescue, and Union Road Volunteer Fire Department battled a structure fire Thursday evening in Gaston County, North Carolina.
At 11:23pm Thursday evening, Crowder’s Mountain Volunteer Fire & Rescue, and Union Road Volunteer Fire Department received a dispatch of a reported structure fire at 318 West Westview Street in Gaston County.
Captain Tony Grissom from Crowder's Mountain Fire & Rescue was first on scene, and witnessed a single story structure fully involved with fire. After receiving information from dispatch that the structure had previously burned, Captain Grissom ordered an exterior attack on the fire.
Engine 513 from Union Road Volunteer Fire Department was the first apparatus on scene, followed by and Engine 550 and Tanker 554 from Crowder’s Mountain and Squad 519 from Union Road.
A total of 21 fire fighters from both departments battled the blaze, until the fire was under control in about 30 minutes.
At the time of the fire, the structure was vacant.
No firefighters or civilians were injured on the call.
The structure sustained substantial damage, and is a total loss.
Gaston County Fire Investigations Task Force is investigating the cause of the fire.
